Want to help but don’t know how? Listed below are current volunteer opportunities with the Humane Society of Bay County. All volunteers must be current members of the Humane Society of Bay County.  Click here to go to our membership application. We’re completely staffed by volunteers – people like you who didn’t know where to start at first.  Without your support and willingness to help we wouldn’t be able to offer all these wonderful programs.

Newsletter … our monthly communication with our membership.  We always need people who can write articles. 

Agility test … a USDAA sanctioned event testing a dog and handler team as they run a course of jumps, tunnels, A-frames, teeter-totters, collapsed chutes, and more.  Volunteer opportunities for mailing confirmations, set-up/take down of equipment, holding leashes at the event, resetting the bars/chute, etc. 

Annual Rummage & Bake Sale … this fundraiser is held every April.  Volunteers are needed to help organize items the night before, take money for items purchased, and clean up after the event has ended.  For more information contact Elaine at (989) 893 – 0451.

Christmas Cookie Trays … cookie trays are given to businesses that have supported the Humane Society over the year.  Volunteers are needed to supply the cookies (and other yummies), organize the trays, and deliver the trays.  For more information contact Marcia or Barb at (989) 893 – 0451.

Dogs & Us Pet Walk … this event takes place in the spring/early summer.  It is our largest fundraiser of the year.  Volunteers are needed to help collect and organize prizes, work the sales tables, oversee games, and much more.  For more information, contact Elaine at (989) 893 – 0451.

Santa Photos … this fundraiser takes place twice in December.  Volunteers are needed to help organize the event, work as Santa, collect money, and distribute flyers.  For more information contact Al at (989) 893 – 0451.

Rebate Programs … periodically throughout the year the Humane Society of Bay County offers rebates to responsible pet owners.  Volunteers are needed to help design and distribute flyers.  For more information contact Mary at (989) 893 – 0451.

Other volunteer opportunities occur throughout the year.  If you’d like to help out but don’t know where to start call (989) 893 – 0451.  You can also attend a board meeting to learn about current needs.  Board meetings are held the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 at the Animal Control and Care Center..
